What is a Geodesign Specialist?

The Metropolitan Nashville Planning Department's 3D program consults, customizes and produces tools, workflows, applications and 3D modeling components to suit both immediate and long-term department needs. Geographic Information Systems allow us to build data driven visualizations to ensure that the scale of development is in accordance with the vision and continued growth of Nashville and Davidson County. With 3D tools and services we test development scenarios dynamically by visualizing zoning potential, terrain, tree canopy, shadows, viewsheds, traffic patterns and impacts of change. We are also using innovative techniques including augmented and virtual reality development to add exciting new ways to further engage our staff, the public and affected communities in the planning process.
